CJN Ambassador Ifeoma Akanisi Wins ₦2 Million Flourish Africa Foundation Seed Grant
Citizen Journalists Network (CJN) has congratulated its Ambassador, Ifeoma Akanisi, on emerging as one of the beneficiaries of a ₦2 million seed grant awarded by the Flourish Africa Foundation, an initiative led by renowned businesswoman and philanthropist Folorunsho Alakija.
The grant follows a rigorous three-month nationwide selection process that attracted applications from entrepreneurs across Nigeria. Ifeoma's emergence as one of the successful beneficiaries reflects her resilience, entrepreneurial vision, and unwavering commitment to building a sustainable business despite significant personal and economic challenges.
Filled with gratitude and excitement, Ifeoma visited the CJN office with souvenirs to celebrate the milestone with members of the organization following her selection from a highly competitive process.
A finalist and CJN Ambassador during the 2019 Brother's Keeper Challenge, organised by Citizen Journalists Network, Ifeoma has remained a committed member of the CJN community, continually pursuing opportunities for growth, leadership and enterprise development.
Ifeoma’s journey stands as an inspiring story of perseverance and courage. As a wife, mother, and entrepreneur, she navigated economic realities and social challenges with remarkable strength, determination, refusing to give up despite difficult circumstances.
In an emotional show of gratitude, Ifeoma expressed her gratefulness towards to the President and Founder of Citizen Journalists Network, Michael Edem-Duke whom she described as a support system and constant source of inspiration throughout the process.
"Apart from myself and my husband, he was the only member of my inner circle who remained steadfast throughout this journey, even at times when some family members doubted the process and the vision."
She also expressed appreciation to Adams Umoru, CJN's videographer, for his professionalism and dedication in producing the pitch video for her poultry business, which formed an important part of her grant application.
Congratulating Ifeoma on the achievement, Citizen Journalists Network described the award as a testament to the power of resilience, purpose-driven leadership and entrepreneurship, and also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting individuals who are creating meaningful impact through resilience, innovation, and community-driven solutions.
