Y-VOTE FELLOWSHIP
Y-VOTE – Youth Voices for Transparent Elections is a civic programme developed and implemented by CJN, supported by the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF), in partnership with the Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Luminate, and Leap Africa. The programme trains young citizens with practical skills in fact-checking, election monitoring, mobile journalism, and citizen reporting towards achieving transparent and accountable elections in Nigeria in 2027.
Named after Nigeria's 8,809 electoral wards under the current electoral structure, 8809 Voices is a national campaign by Citizen Journalists Network (CJN) to equip and coordinate a network of citizen reporters across every electoral ward in Nigeria for the 2027 general elections.
The campaign is designed around Nigeria's 8,809 electoral wards and 176,846 polling units, creating a ward-to-polling-unit reporting structure to capture firsthand electoral experiences across the country.
Through this structure, 8809 Voices will work with a grassroots network of 176,846 focal persons from every polling unit as eyewitnesses, to watch, document, report, and escalate electoral and civic realities from their communities.
