Building Africa's Most Trusted Intelligence for Driving Social Impact through Solutions Journalism.

Citizen Journalists Network (CJN) was born out of a simple but urgent conviction: stories should not just be told — they should lead to solutions. It dawned on me that the stories of our communities ought not only be told; they must be understood, documented, and transformed into solutions, especially so that we don’t keep living in cycles.

Across Africa, and particularly in Nigeria, we are surrounded by an abundance of narratives. Yet too often, these stories are reported, shared, and quickly forgotten, without being harnessed as data, without shaping policy, and without driving meaningful change.

CJN exists to change that.

Having worked at the intersection of media and social development, I came to a defining realisation: that for me, media must go beyond storytelling, and information must become a tool for development. That introspection is what gave birth to CJN.

With CJN, we are creating a continental system of civic intelligence that documents social realities, investigates root causes, and elevates practical, scalable solutions. Our mission is to bridge the gap between storytelling and Solutions, ensuring that every reported issue contributes to a deeper understanding of society and informs action at multiple levels.

At CJN, we are advancing a new kind of journalism – Solutions-Journalism – one that is participatory, evidence driven and grounded in data, because people are not just passive consumers of news; they are witnesses, contributors, and agents of change.

Our vision is bold: to become Africa’s most trusted repository of social problems, tested solutions, and actionable insights — a data-bank for governments, development partners, researchers, communities and organisations seeking to understand complex problems, design interventions that truly work and solve real challenges.

Through our work, we aim to:

  • Transform grassroots stories into structured knowledge

  • Support evidence-based advocacy and policy engagement

  • Design and test solution-driven interventions that can scale

As we grow, we invite partners, institutions, and people across the continent to join us in this mission; to document, to question, to analyze, and most importantly, to build solutions that work.

CJN is not about telling stories.

It is about changing outcomes.

Because Africa does not lack stories.

Africa needs systems that turn those stories into pathways.

And my greatest hope is to see communities rise, transform and thrive through their own voices.

You should join us.
